Brunswick Schools Video Program – A Winning Team!
Since 2000, the award-winning Brunswick Schools Video Program has provided over 200 students (grades 6-12) the unique opportunity to produce, direct, shoot and edit close to 1,500 programs that have aired locally and nationally. Students gain valuable skills in teamwork and creativity on high-end equipment, while our district and Medina County benefit from new and fresh community programming.
Over the past year, the Program was featured in articles (including the Alliance for Community Media's (ACM) Community Media Review), honored by peers (SportsTime Ohio's B.U.M.P. award; The Ohio School for Broadcasting's "Best Commercial" contest; ACM Hometown Video Awards: Top School Channel within its budget category in 2006, 2009 and 2010), and asked to contribute to national TV programs (The Discovery Channel's Education News Parents Can Use; SAMHSA's Road to Recovery). Also, the Club was selected as the first student documentary team for the Ohio School Boards Association (OSBA) Capital Conference in Columbus, Ohio - where they produced a ten-minute documentary within a three-day period in support of the event.
Finally, the Program would not exist if not for the generous support of the Brunswick City School District and over 80 local businesses who contributed over $150,000 in funds, equipment and services towards the purchase of state-of-the-art video production equipment.
